We express our sincere condolences to people who have been suffering from the strong earthquake that struck the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture of Japan on January 1, 2024. We also pray for the earliest possible recovery of the region.

According to the related provisions of Taiwan's IP laws, applicants for patents, utility models, designs, and trademarks who failed to comply within the statutory period due to the earthquake may, within 30 days after cessation of such incident, file a written request for reinstatement accompanied by necessary evidence with the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO).

On January 2, the TIPO specifically issued a public notice announcing that it will take leniency in reviewing reinstatement requests made in the wake of the heartbreaking earthquake.
